A problem with this, or any, mythical adaptation in the form of a suspense thriller is that said adaptations cannot claim to be realistic in the sense that the audience can empathize with the characters. Once you bring in superpowers or magic of some sort, you break the internal realism and consistency of the movie, and the suspense disappears. This was the problem with the script, I feel.
If it was possible that Martin had done what he did with the aid of some ancient, unrecorded poisonous substance (or some other even remotely believable device, it would have been a great mystery. The movie didn"t even have to explain what Martin did, but it had to show the possibility that Martin was just another sociopath.
Overall, great directing, cinematography, and score, but the script fails.
RIP Ray Velcoro you will be missed.

I watched lobster and thought the flat tone was part of the metaphor of the society and the movie and now I"m realizing go in through the painful process of watching the deer movie I hate for life i"m realizing that it was a fluke and these movie"s are characters show the opposite of we need to talk about Kevin this movie is the opposite of we need to talk about Kevin and caliber and clarity and performance and writing… and I loved mother! I guess the director said he wanted less character development so people would focus on the message but it came off as less character. It looks good… But the house is empty… This movie is an empty house. I have no idea what this movie is about after watching the trailer. Not interested so far.

Colin is sooo hilarious and handsome????, how have i never noticed till now. After all these years, Conan finally pronounces Steven"s last name correctly. I watched at part of Daredevil on Monday & geez he looked weird as Bullseye. Also, a level of hypnotism. Everything is done in a series of 3s. Twirling the spaghetti, the kid constantly is rocking like a pendulum and putting the people into a very suggestive state.
Funny how none of them are american. I dont want to understand this scene. Movie Online La"harog a"yal kagoshima. I know the guy has a checkered history, but he"s charming as hell. Beautiful, haunting film. Anyone else notice the basement decor is influenced by the green and red- the two primary contrasting colors from Van Goghs Night Cafe. Its a bar scene with a pool table and lighting that purveys a sickliness that also pervades the family. The bar reference adds to the drunken logic and desperation happening in that room. Just awful. Another note on the Art is the charcoal figure drawing on the wall in their bedroom. As Martín gains a hold over the family- the scene where Steven exits the shower and sits on his chair, nude and vulnerable-cornered if you will. He sits resigned and echoes the man in the drawing-nude and cowering in the shadows-cornered.
Just watched the movie. Yorgos I salute your work. You are a secret genius, you scared me but yet kept me interested! Same with lobster and the Favorite. Nice trailer ??????. I might be high as hell right now but when Kim is eating the fries, i remembered Martin saying he saves the fries for last, and Steven killed Bob last. this is stupid and a might not make sense by a longshot i know. The Lobster was one of the best movies that came out in 2015. Will definitely watch this.

It is weird that while they were praising the director/screenwriter, they didn"t even bother mention his name. Yorgos (greek equivalent of George) Lanthimos. K Im gonna give this a brief go and explain my interpretation. Martin is god. Now however you define god is irrelevant as in the universe of the film martin represents a force that is all present and in total control of every aspect. The film touches greatly on agency and free will/determinism but does not give answers. In a world with an all powerful being that can seemingly will things to happen, why would this circumstance arise in the first place? Why the challenge and need for revenge? This is the existential tragedy of the film and of actual reality. Whether god exists or not, your agency and choice are seemingly so significant but logically they appear no more then an evolutionary illusion to give purpose where there is none. Theres a lot of imagery of hands that imply actions the characters take and how these actions are essentially and abstraction of their character. Again, agency. Martin asks of Steven one thing; to make a choice. Steven takes a few opportunities in the film to deny Martin and as does Kim by eating her fries first which is exactly how Martin would not. Gestures against Martin are the best these people can do. Anyways, so Martin demand Steven make a choice to kill a child and seemingly Steven removes agency by adding what could appear to be random chance-putting a bag on his head and spinning in circles shooting a gun with his family tied around him. Really, is that removing agency though? And who does Steven obviously favour less then anyone else in the family? Thats right. Little bob. The tragedy in this is Steven now has the guilt of knowing he killed the child he would have killed anyways had he not wore that hat over his eyes. Extra fact, Robert(long form of bob) means illuminated and chosen. It was always going to be bob. Martin knew it. He was forcing Stevens hand. So, is this agency? Do you choose anything you do in your life? Is your guilt really yours or does the universe just pull you around. I could really go on but Whatever. Thats what I got from the film.
If one does not know the greek movie will seem quite ridiculous. Thanks for the movie was superficial and had horrid background music. Movie Online La"harog a"yal karoshi. It"s about missed "s all about handjobs! Lobster was better, but no handjobs. Disgusted, vile movie, disturbing, sick enough evil and filth in the world nicole Kidman will do anything for money disgusting sexual act. This garbage will be called, innovative, artistic, progressive, euphemistisms for dark, inhuman, disturbing, travesty. Garbage. I didn"t finish watching too disturbing. Good explanation. Like all of his films it takes either a little thinking or a little research to really to get to the bottom of the real story behind it. Try watching one of his earlier ones, the Greek film Dogtooth. Thats a really odd film, but when you know the meaning behind it it makes a lot of sense.
